| Secure Rail Conference Leaves Attendees Inspired and Optimistic About the Future of Rail Security. | ||||
| April 27, 2017 — Orlando — The 3rd annual Secure Rail Conference held April 5-6 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel brought together over 140 rail professionals working to bridge the gap between technology and security. Topics ranged from cyber risk and new technology advancements to security of assets, passengers and employees. This year's event focused primarily on cybersecurity risks and threats. Day one opened with a panel discussion of "Railroad Cyber Risk Management," featuring speakers Nick Chodorow, chief information officer of the Belt Railway Co. of Chicago; J. Alex Lang, CIO at Carload Express Inc.; and Biff Myre, director, solutions, at OnX Managed Services Inc. Ron Schlecht, managing partner of BTB Security, served as moderator. The panel discussed how cybersecurity is changing organizational thinking and risk management. Also speaking at Secure Rail were Canadian Pacific Vice President and Chief Risk Officer Laird Pitz, who offered his perspective on the importance of having a corporate strategy for managing risk; and Wi-Tronix President Larry Jordan, who discussed the concept of file-less data and asset security systems of the future. The conference featured over 25 industry experts presenting important topics. Secure Rail 2017 attracted over 140 people from around the globe seeking information on best practices in rail security presented by key players.
