May is the Railway Interchange Issue

We have Railway Interchange Marketing Packages Available

Here's two simple reasons why having a presence in our May issue is a wise idea:

1. It's our Railway Interchange issue. The largest rail event takes place in Indianapolis in May this year. Previous years, the show took place in Fall. But it's already nearly showtime in 2025. Don't leave your success at the show to chance and publicize your booth so rail professionals in the aisles can find you.

2. Our cover story focuses on CSX's infrastructure improvements. Whenever we highlight a Class I, it generates much interest and discussion. Our cover story will do just that since everyone in the industry will have some level of interest in what CSX is working on.

May Issue Preview

Cover Story: CSX infrastructure improvements with polar opposite implications
CSX is in the midst of carrying out major infrastructure improvement projects in Maryland and North Carolina that became important tasks for extremely opposite reasons.

The highly desirable job: In Baltimore, the Class I continues to hammer away at the Howard Street Tunnel reconstruction, which aims to modernize the nearly 8,700-foot-long tunnel that opened in 1895 so double-stack intermodal trains can traverse CSX’s I-95 corridor and serve the Port of Baltimore. Scheduled for completion by 2025’s end, the multi-million-dollar project will increase vertical clearances in the tunnel and address 22 additional obstructions along the corridor.

The highly undesirable undertaking: In North Carolina, the railroad continues to chip away at reconstructing track and bridges in its Blue Ridge Subdivision to recover from the massive infrastructure damage wrought by Hurricane Helene in late September 2024. The effort to rebuild infrastructure that was, in some cases, completely washed away will take many months and many hundreds of millions of dollars to pull off.

With two huge infrastructure projects happening concurrently — both requiring many workers and pieces of equipment — there are bound to be challenges along the way. Managing Editor Jeff Stagl dissects those and gains more valuable insights on the projects through conversations with high-ranking CSX executives.
