CN's ESG Embrace and Engagement
CN is striving to be a leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) pursuits and results among North American Class Is and transportation sector constituents. CN also aims to be on the leading edge of ESG best practices over the long term.
The railroad's recent efforts include forming the CN Indigenous Advisory Council and R.I.S.E. (Railroaders Who Influence, Support and Empower Black Colleagues) employee resource group; adhering to a strict climate action plan; updating board governance policies; embracing more responsible business practices; and broadening energy efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and land management measures.
What else is CN doing on the ESG front, and why? How will ESG help the Class I grow and prosper? For answers, Managing Editor Jeff Stagl holds court with these CN executives: Sean Finn, executive vice president of corporate services and chief legal officer; Janet Drysdale, VP of financial planning; Dorthea Klein, VP of human resources; and Jim Sokol, VP of mechanical.
