Progressive Railroading October 2020 Editorial Lineup

Cover Story:

Class I Focus — CSX

Like other railroads — and like a lot of businesses — CSX had a rough second quarter because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Second-quarter revenue tumbled 26 percent year over year to $2.26 billion due to volume declines, an unfavorable mix, decreases in fuel recovery, declines in coal pricing and lower other revenue, CSX reported in its Q2 financial statement. Those decreases were partially offset by pricing gains in merchandising and intermodal. How will the Class I get past the extremely difficult quarter? For answers, Managing Editor Jeff Stagl talks with the members of the CSX leadership team.

It's all here in "Passenger Rail at a Glance," our annual report featuring transit agency facts and figures.
